BBFC - Work on target audience
BBFC stands for British Board of Film Classification. It is very important that our opening title sequence follows certain guidelines so that it is suitable for our target audience. The BBFC is used to protect children from unsuitable and even harmful content that can be found in certain films and videos. It also gives consumers information they might need about a particular film or video before deciding whether or not to view it. The BBFC examines and age rates films and videos before they are released. This is an independent organisation and as they rate the film prior to release it ensures the highest possible level of protection and empowerment.
We have chosen to make our horror a "15" as this means our audience size will increase resulting in a bigger profit. The "15" logo means no one under the age of 15 is allowed to see it at the cinema or buy/rent it on DVD. No theme is prohibited; however the film must must be appropriate for 15 year olds and so there are strict guidelines. 15 works can contain the following:
